Overview

Emery Sloan is an Associate in the firm’s Columbia office, where she concentrates her practice on corporate and tax matters. 

Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet as an attorney, Emery worked as a Summer Associate both at Nexsen Pruet and at an additional southeastern law firm, where she gained experience in legal research, analysis, and writing. Emery previously worked as an Immigration Paralegal at a full-service, international law firm. There, she drafted petitions for immigrant investors seeking permanent resident status in the United States as well as participated in an extensive audit of Forms 1-9 for a large client. Emery also has experience as a Client Service Specialist for a boutique life insurance brokerage firm in New York City and worked as a Congressional Affairs intern for the Embassy of Israel in Washington, DC. 

Emery earned her B.A. from Furman University and her M.A. in Philosophy with a Concentration in Social Policy from American University. While earning her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Emery was involved in numerous organizations, served as both the Executive Articles Editor of the South Carolina Law Review, Volume 72, and the Vice-Chair of the Honor Council, and was a member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court. She received CALI Awards in Technology and the Practice of Law, Drafting Business Agreements, and Consumer Law.

Outside Nexsen Pruet

Outside of Nexsen Pruet, Emery enjoys hiking and camping with her husband, Brian, and their two rescue dogs. When she isn’t exploring the outdoors, you can catch her cheering on the Carolina Panthers. 

Emery also qualified for the Obstacle Course Racing World Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018 as well as the Spartan World Championships in 2018.
