Overview

Carrie is a Shareholder in Maynard Nexsen’s Insurance practice group. She represents clients with respect to regulatory issues, approvals and compliance matters. Her practice is primarily focused on representing clients in the insurance industry before Departments of Insurance throughout the country.

Carrie advises clients in the insurance industry with respect to a wide range of federal and state regulatory compliance issues and has significant experience representing clients with respect to approvals, licensing and compliance matters before the Texas Department of Insurance. She strategically counsels clients in insurance company acquisitions, complex financial transactions, and insurance investment issues. Carrie also has experience representing clients in the insurance industry in supervision, rehabilitation, conservation and liquidation proceedings, representing insurance clients in connection with filings and approvals required under the Texas Holding Company Act, and representing clients in the insurance industry in regulatory rulemaking proceedings.

Carrie provides legal and ethics advice to clients based on state administrative laws, specifically statutes, rules, and policies relating to the Texas Holding Company Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, the Open Meetings Act and the Public Information Act. She successfully drafted legislation during the 83rd Texas Legislative Session related to the implementation of the federal Non-Admitted and Reinsurance Reform Act.

Prior to joining Maynard Nexsen, Carrie worked at a full-service national law firm supporting corporate, insurance, and mergers & acquisitions work. Carrie holds a J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law. She earned her B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
