Overview

Ricky is an Associate in the Firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. His practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications in various technologies, including medical devices, mechanical devices, electrical devices, and computer software. 

In addition to patent prosecution, Ricky works in IP diligence for clients in prospective acquisitions, mergers, and other business transactions. He is experienced in coordinating foreign filings and obtaining foreign filing licenses. Ricky is also skilled in analyzing and preparing Office Action responses and streamlining the patent drafting process.

Ricky holds a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law. Throughout law school, he served as the President of the Carolina Intellectual Property Legal Association and an Articles Editor for the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, magna cum laude, from North Carolina State University.

Ricky was honored with the Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2019 and 2020, as well as being honored as a North Carolina Bono Honor Society member in 2019 and 2020.
