Phil McCann is a Member with Nexsen Pruet's Intellectual Property Practice Group and focuses on intellectual property, particularly patent law. He prosecutes patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark office and regularly advises clients on patent infringement and patent licensing issues as well as management of patent portfolios.

Phil has more than 25 years of intellectual property experience, including patent matters in fields such as specialty chemicals, polymer chemistry, tires, manufacturing equipment, pharmaceuticals, adhesives and medical devices. He also provides counsel to a number of large corporations including patent prosecution in the United States and opposition proceedings in Europe.

In addition to his experience working with a large firm based in the Southeast, Phil was Chief IP Counsel for both Great Lakes Chemical Corporation and Clariant Corporation. He also served as a patent attorney at Hoechst Celanese in Charlotte for 10 years.  Phil has been a 20 year member of the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel.
