Overview

John McLeod is Special Counsel in the Firm’s Corporate and Tax Practice Group. Based out of the Firm’s Charlotte office, John represents clients in both North Carolina and South Carolina, concentrating his practice in the areas of estate planning, trust, and estate administration, and tax planning for individuals and families. John also provides tax advice to corporate clients regarding business entity structure and formation, mergers and acquisitions, and various other business transactions.   

Prior to joining the Firm, John practiced with a boutique trusts and estates law firm in Columbia, South Carolina, where he worked with individuals to design and implement estate plans and advised fiduciaries in administration of trusts and estates. John also worked for the South Carolina Judicial Department, serving as a Law Clerk to a circuit court judge and a staff attorney to the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

John is a graduate of Clemson University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. Additionally, he earned a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Outside Maynard Nexsen

As a third-generation Clemson graduate and lifelong fan, John enjoys following Clemson athletics and supporting the Tigers.  As far as John is concerned, there is no better place to spend a Saturday in the fall than Clemson, South Carolina.  When he is not rooting on the Tigers, John enjoys visiting with friends and family and spending time in his hometown of Chesterfield, South Carolina.
