Outside Nexsen Pruet

Outside of Nexsen Pruet, Michelle’s love of horses is evident. When she’s not lobbying for her clients at the NC General Assembly, Michelle rescues racetrack horses and trains them to become performance horses. She and her rescues compete regularly in three-day eventing (commonly known as equestrian triathlons). Three-day eventing includes dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. A recent big accomplishment for her was earning a 2017 US Horse of the Year award for her rescue horse named Personal Privilege.  Her current mount is a former racehorse named Raucous Caucus.

Michelle lives in Raleigh with her husband, Steve Petersen, and two rescue dogs, Blossom and Chester.
