August 7, 2018

Nexsen Pruet, one of the Carolinas’ largest law firms, is pleased to announce that Matthew K. Ormiston has joined the firm’s Financial Services Practice as Special Counsel*.

He brings to Nexsen Pruet exceptional knowledge of lending institutions and the Farm Credit System.

Before joining Nexsen Pruet, Matt served as associate general counsel for a cooperatively owned wholesale funding bank within the Texas Farm Credit District. In this role, he advised the bank on various topics including, but not limited to, credit documentation, loan origination, loan closing and servicing, bankruptcy, foreclosure sales and flood insurance.

“Matt’s addition is not only great news for Nexsen Pruet but also for our firm’s banking, finance and agribusiness clients,” said David Gossett, Member and Chair of the firm’s Agribusiness team. “His presence will give us much greater capacity to meet our clients, and their needs, where they are.”

Based in Greenville, South Carolina but working primarily in the Austin, Texas area, Matt is perfectly positioned to provide next level service to the firm’s clients within the Texas Farm Credit District, which encompasses Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.

Prior to going in-house, Matt represented clients in state and local tax litigation and appeals, as well as construction, contract, employment and entertainment law matters.

He received his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law and his B.S. from Texas A&M University. While in law school, Matt served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez, United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. Matt and his wife, Leslie, have three children – Morgan, Jacob and Caroline.
