Senator Harry Brown and Representative Jason Saine have been recognized for their economic development efforts. The N.C. Economic Developers Association gave Brown and Saine its Legislator of the Year Award during its two-day conference in Pinehurst.

"Their support of economic development legislation, including the extension of the Job Development Investment Grant Program (JDIG), has been critical to keeping North Carolina competitive," NCEDA President Ernest Pearson said Wednesday in a news release.

Brown, R-Jones, Onslow, is co-chairman of the Senate Appropriations/Base Budget Committee and vice chairman of the Senate's Commerce and Redistricting committees. Saine, R-Lincoln, is senior chairman of the House Finance Committee, chairman of the House Appropriations, Information Technology Committee and vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

Ernie Pearson's law practice has focused on economic development matters since 1993. That is when he left state government after serving as Assistant Secretary of Economic Development for the State of North Carolina.
