Melissa Spence Selected to Leadership Charleston’s Class of 2019

Employment & Labor Associate to Participate in Leadership Development Program

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce has selected Melissa Fried Spence as one of the 60 participants for its 45th Leadership Charleston class. 

According to the Chamber’s website, Leadership Charleston’s mission is to "identify and motivate emerging leaders and to develop their leadership potential by introducing them to the realities, opportunities and challenges of our civic and business communities."

During the 10-month course, the class will gain firsthand experience working with various community leaders and organizations on some of the most challenging issues and opportunities facing the Charleston region.

About Melissa Fried Spence 
Melissa is an employment attorney in Charleston, South Carolina, where she focuses her work on building proactive strategies that help clients avoid long, protracted legal disputes involving a variety of labor and employment matters. She has represented employers in both state and federal court against lawsuits arising under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and the FLSA. She also represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission.

Melissa has been listed as a "Rising Star" by South Carolina Super Lawyers®  since 2016.
