Raleigh Attorney to Serve as Research Triangle Regional Partnership Board Chair through 2020
July 2, 2018
Keith Burns, a Member and real estate, financial services and economic development attorney in the Raleigh, North Carolina office of Nexsen Pruet, has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP). Keith will serve a two-year term, which began July 1, 2018, as Board Chairman.
The regional economic development organization announced Keith's new position in front of nearly 1,000 of the region's business and community leaders during the 22nd annual State of the Region event, which was held on May 30, 2018.
According to the organization, the RTRP is an economic development organization sustained by and committed to 10 core constituents located in Central North Carolina -- Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Lee, Person, Wake, Warren and Wilson counties, as well as the Research Triangle Park, which is located in both Wake and Durham counties. Since June 2017, these nine counties have announced new and existing businesses plan to create more than 4,000 new jobs over the next few years.
In January, the region was short-listed for Amazon's much-heralded second but equal headquarters location and, recently, it has become clear that the Research Triangle Park is a real contender for Apple's fourth campus location.
For Keith, working with the RTRP Executive Committee, which he's been a member of since 2014, is the union of his decades of professional experience and strongly-held beliefs -- bringing good jobs to the region changes lives. Along with these newly created jobs comes tangible community benefits for the citizens of the nine counties served by the RTRP, including greater economic opportunities and enriched quality of life.
"We actively work to recruit new and innovative businesses to The Triangle in order to ensure the region's continued growth and prosperity," said Burns. "We work to bring a higher standard of living to all citizens of the region, both existing and prospective, and it's work that we relish."
