North Carolina Lawyers Weekly reported on a recent $2 million award in a slander trial, in which Dan Boyce represented a prominent businessman in the suit brought against his ex-wife.
The jury found that Candace Khashman had slandered Sam Khashman, President & CEO of Charlotte-based Technology Partners, Inc. The $2 million damages award included $1.2 million in punitive damages, $600,000 presumed and $200,000 in actual damages.
In a PowerPoint presentation he used during his closing, Boyce projected a quote from English Bishop Joseph Hall onto a screen, telling the jury: “A reputation once broken may possibly be repaired, but the world will always keep their eyes on the spot where the crack was.”
