Bob Coble Being Evaluated at Providence Hospital; Moment of Silence after Former Columbia Mayor Rushed from Statehouse

April 15, 2015

Former Columbia Mayor Bob Coble is under doctor’s care at Providence Hospital in Columbia this evening. Coble was taken there by ambulance after becoming ill at the South Carolina Statehouse grounds.

Shortly after first responders transported Coble from the Capitol grounds, the House of Representatives paused for a moment of silence for him. Earlier, Coble went to the “Doctor of the Day” at the Statehouse because he was not feeling well. The health care professionals determined that the best course was to take him in, as a precaution.

Doctors are performing tests, including a heart catheterization, to check for blockages. Coble is alert and in good spirits at this hour, with family and friends by his side.
