On April 28, a Billy Wilkins Award for Law Enforcement Excellence was presented to Meghan Jacobs, the widow of Greenville police office Allen Jacobs. In March, Jacobs was shot and killed in the line of duty.
“Her two boys revered their father. They talk about him all the time. They’re so proud of him and she suspects that perhaps they’ll follow his footsteps,” said Wilkins.

Each fall, an officer from Greenville County and Pickens County receives the award. The one for Officer Jacobs came early and it marks the first presented posthumously.
Other media outlets to report on the presentation to Ms. Jacobs include The Greenville News, WYFF television, FOX Carolina.
