Nexsen Pruet Welcomes New Attorneys to Raleigh Office

Nexsen Pruet, one of the Carolina's largest law firms, is pleased to announce the addition of three experienced professionals - two Member attorneys and one Special Counsel - to the firm's Raleigh office.

Kelly Jones  is a Member with the Business and Commercial Litigation practice group. She is an accomplished litigator with experience representing a wide range of clients, including construction companies, top brand product manufacturers and sellers and propane and natural gas companies. With more than 20 years of experience assisting clients across the US, Kelly has successfully tried high profile matters to jury verdict in North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. 

Before joining Nexsen Pruet, Kelly worked at a transatlantic law firm where she helped lead a catastrophic events team, which provided emergency response needs for clients involved in explosions, fires, chemical or other toxic exposures, natural disasters, governmental investigations, and construction work site events. She assists clients with respect to inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions involving OSHA, the EPA, the DOJ, and other federal, state and local regulators. 

David McCallum is Special Counsel with the Corporate and Tax practice group. He represents clients- individuals, fiduciaries, partnerships, corporations, and other entities- in tax controversy matters before the IRS both administratively, including the Appeals Office, and in litigation before the Tax Court. His clients range across industries including technology, construction, manufacturing, health and life sciences, government contractors, financial services, and professional services. David also works with clients to find and utilize tax credits and other incentives at both the state and federal level. 

Prior to Joining Nexsen Pruet, David worked at a Top 25 accounting and consulting firm as a Senior Manager for Credits and Accounting Methods team, where he successfully handled Federal and State R & D tax credit projects and controversy matters. He also previously worked as a Senior Attorney and Special Assistant United States Attorney for the office of Chief Counsel, IRS, SB/SE Division.

Tonya Powell is a Member with the Real Estate practice group. She focuses her practice on commercial real estate matters, as well as banking and finance and corporate law. Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, Tonya worked at a regional law firm in addition to a boutique law firm, where she represented commercial real estate developers in all aspects of real estate transactions including acquisitions, financing, leasing and disposition of assets, and lenders in making both real estate and non-real estate loans. 

Tonya is a board certified specialist in commercial real property law: business, commercial and industrial transactions. She previously served as Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association's Real Property Section.
