On February 3, 2017, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced that it extended the public input period on its proposed enforcement guidance on unlawful workplace harassment. The public input period was extended 40 days until March 21, 2017.
The EEOC enforces various federal laws designed to protect individuals from harassment based upon protected categories such as race, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetic information. The EEOC’s proposed guidance explains the legal standards applicable to claims of unlawful harassment under the federal employment discrimination laws.
After reviewing the public input, the EEOC will consider appropriate revisions to the proposed guidance before finalizing it.
