Making public finance work

We have vast experience in a wide variety of governmental and conduit bond transactions including general obligation bonds, revenue bonds and installment contract/appropriation financings. We are also experienced in the tax aspects of public finance.

Members of Nexsen Pruet’s public finance team have deep knowledge of many types of new money and refunding transactions, from “plain vanilla” general obligation bonds to sophisticated asset securitizations, revenue bond financings, tax increment financing, advance refunding transactions and pooled bond issues.

Our lawyers have dealt with public financing for many types of projects, including:

  • Hospitals and other health care facilities
  • Retirement facilities
  • Public and private educational facilities
  • Water and sewer projects
  • Highway and other surface transportation projects
  • Airports
  • Industrial development bonds
  • College/university housing, athletic and other facilities
  • Arenas and convention centers
  • Single and multi-family housing

The principal amount involved in these financings has ranged from a low of $35,000 for fire trucks to more than $500 million for state and local government bond issuances.

Our clients include various governmental issuers, authorities and agencies, underwriters, conduit borrowers, developers, lenders, credit and liquidity facility providers, and trustees. Members of our public finance team have also served as bond counsel to the state of South Carolina and the state of North Carolina.
