USGA

Ernie was part of the team who worked with the USGA and their efforts to bring the headquarters home to Pinehurst, NC. Through his work, he secured a total of $18M incentive appropriations to the USGA from the General Assembly and the Governor’s office, as well as incentives from Moore County and the Village at Pinehurst. John Bodenhamer, Senior Managing Director of USGA Championships said in part, “Ernie saw possibilities that no one else envisioned.” Bodenhamer went on to say that, “the expertise and most importantly, the integrity and professionalism (Ernie) brought were very much appreciated.”

Due in part to his efforts, the USGA will not only permanently have a home in North Carolina but will host the U.S. Open in 2024 in Pinehurst, followed by four other US Opens approximately every five years thereafter.
