The Boeing Company

It's been called “the most important economic development project in our state’s history.”

In May of 2012, the Columbia Regional Business Report featured Billy Wilkins and Leighton Lord on the cover with the headline "Winning Boeing." The report entitled “Serendipitous encounter pulled Wilkins into hunt for Boeing" detailed how the aerospace giant selected South Carolina for a new manufacturing line.

In October of 2009, South Carolina leaders announced that The Boeing Company had chosen South Carolina for a new production line of the 787 Dreamliner.  The initial $750 million economic development deal has created thousands of jobs, and Boeing continues to add to its investment in the Palmetto State.

Nexsen Pruet’s Economic Development team played "a pivotal role" in Boeing locating in S.C.  Led by then managing member (partner) Leighton Lord and former federal judge Billy Wilkins, the firm’s Economic Development team, including Ric Tapp and Burnie Maybank, worked with Boeing officials to negotiate the incentives package approved by the South Carolina legislature.  The historic announcement could not have taken place without the complete commitment of the South Carolina General Assembly and Executive Branch.

"Nexsen Pruet - to work with you attorneys and the way you communicated with us was phenomenal." -Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell, then-President Pro Tempore of the SC Senate
