Maritime

Nexsen Pruet also has a significant maritime practice.  Our attorneys are actively involved with the Port of Charleston.  We are members of the Maritime Association of the Port of Charleston, the Propeller Club of Charleston and other maritime-related groups.  We represent the Charleston Branch Pilots Association (the Harbor Pilots), the Charleston Navigation Co. and the State Ports Authority. 

We can assist with ship purchases, vessel mortgages, marine finance transactions, insurance, negligence claims and vessel arrests.  Our firm has successfully defended a novel issue involving COGSA package limitation relating to a cargo claim.

Trucking & Distribution

For the trucking industry, we have negotiated economic incentives, handled wrongful death lawsuits, provided real estate services and assisted with regulatory requirements.  We are experienced in trying both accident and product liability cases before juries in both state and federal courts.
