On April 20, 2005, President George W. Bush signed into law the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (the "Act"). The Act implements the most sweeping changes to the nation’s bankruptcy laws since the enactment of the Bankruptcy Code of 1978 (the "Code"). Most of the changes relate to consumer cases; however, some amendments will also significantly affect business cases.
