Overview

For nearly 30 years, William has excelled at helping employers of all sizes and industries with important labor and employment problems.  William reduces employers’ legal risks by conducting interactive training for management teams, creating effective personnel policies, and counseling them through day-to-day as well as complex human resource issues.  And, where litigation is inevitable, he helps achieve the employer’s objectives.

William is a Certified Labor and Employment Law Specialist, and the former Chairperson of the South Carolina Labor and Employment Law Section.  Throughout his career, he has exclusively represented employers confronting labor and employment law issues.  For the past 13 years, William has been a Member of the Nexsen Pruet law firm and a leader in its Labor and Employment Practice Group.  Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, William was a partner in a national labor law firm during which he worked extensively throughout the region and country as he assisted a variety of employers with labor law issues.

Employment Law

  • Successfully handled dozens of ERISA lawsuits around the country, from South Carolina to California and from Florida to Michigan
  • Successfully concluded FLSA matters involving thousands of employees
  • Successfully defended whistleblower claims, including AIR21 complaints involving the aviation industry
  • Defended OSHA claims brought against employers in a variety of industries including customer service, agri-business, and manufacturing
  • Successfully defended numerous wrongful discharge and discrimination claims in multiple jurisdictions and states
  • Stopped former employees from taking confidential information or trade secrets in industries ranging from manufacturing to IT software

William is a Colonel in the South Carolina State Guard where he serves as the Staff Judge Advocate. And, probably more frequently than they would like, he occasionally spends weekends checking in on his children in college.
