Greg Placone concentrates his practice on complex litigation as part of the construction practice group. Greg represents a wide variety of claimants and defendants involved in the construction industry including owners, developers, contractors and manufacturers. Greg regularly advises clients on complex eDiscovery and ESI issues and he works closely with the firm’s Electronic Discovery & Information Management group. In addition to Greg’s practice before federal and state courts, he also assists clients involved in mediation and binding arbitration. 

Greg’s construction experience includes representing clients in disputes that include the following:

  • Prosecuting engineering and construction defect claims as part of a multimillion dollar state infrastructure project;
  • Defending a variety of owners and developers from claims brought by contractors;
  • Negotiating a successful settlement on behalf of an international client as part of a complex dispute with a contractor;
  • Advising clients on state infrastructure project contracts; and
  • Filing Mechanic’s Liens and collection actions.

As a devoted fly fisherman and fly tier, Greg appreciates any time he can find to wade the streams and saltwater flats in South Carolina. Fly fishing has afforded Greg the opportunity to travel the globe, and his love of angling has encouraged him to experience incredible cultures and awe-inspiring natural beauty. Greg’s passion for fly fishing has translated to a commitment to preserving his local coastal and coldwater fisheries. Greg is a former President of the Saluda River Chapter of Trout Unlimited. He continues to serve on the SRTU Board of Directors and he currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the South Carolina State Council for Trout Unlimited.
