Nexsen Pruet attorney Harper Heckman has been elected Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on the Construction Industry.
Previously, Heckman has served as the Forum’s Publications Committee Chair, Contract Documents Division Chair, and on the Governing Committee. Heckman will serve a three-year term, including one year as the Chair-Elect, one year as the Chair and one year as the Immediate Past Chair.

The Forum’s roughly 6,000 Members and Associates are drawn from all types of Construction practice – law firms large and small, solo practitioners, in-house and government counsel, as well as construction professionals and the public sector. Harper Heckman is the Chair of Nexsen Pruet’s Construction Law Practice Group. He represents public and private owners, developers, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. He has tried cases in both state and federal courts and has argued before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Heckman has been named as a North Carolina “Legal Elite” and listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers® in Construction Law since 2006. He has been listed in Best Lawyers®for Construction Law since2008 and in 2013 was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Greensboro for Construction Litigation.
