"10 years later, Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center a triumph for regional cooperation"

The State

September 18, 2014

In the September 14 edition of The State, Nexsen Pruet attorney and former Mayor of Columbia Bob Coble contributed a Guest Column entitled, "10 years later, Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center a triumph for regional cooperation."

It begins:

"In the 10 years since the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center opened, in September 2004, it has joined the ranks of such successful regional projects as the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, the River Alliance and the Three Rivers Greenway.

This effort, which included not only the convention center itself but the Columbia Hilton Hotel, a parking garage and the Colonial Life Center, was a partnership of Columbia, Richland and Lexington counties, Richland School District 1, the University of South Carolina, the state of South Carolina and the S.C. Department of Transportation. Additionally, the local governments consolidated much of our regional marketing efforts into the Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports and Tourism."

Bob Coble served as Mayor of Columbia for 20 years and now co-chairs Nexsen Pruet's Public Policy and Governmental Affairs Practice Team.
