Thomas S. Tisdale, a Member (partner) in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, has been invited to become a Fellow in the prestigious Litigation Counsel of America.
Tisdale practices in the firm’s litigation and appellate groups, concentrating on areas that include alternative dispute resolution, appellate advocacy, business disputes, insurance litigation, and general litigation.
He is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers for litigation and Best Lawyers in America for business litigation and First Amendment law.
The Litigation Counsel of America is a trial lawyer honorary society that is made up of less than one-half of one percent of the nation’s attorneys. Fellowship is highly selective, and invitations are based on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation – at both the trial and appellate levels – and superior ethical reputation.
Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, Tisdale was a founding partner of Young, Clement, Rivers and Tisdale in Charleston. He also served as assistant solicitor for the 9th Judicial Circuit and as a municipal court judge for the City of Charleston.
He has held numerous positions with the South Carolina Bar, including president; is a former president of the Charleston Lawyers Club; and was a member of the Supreme Court Commission on Grievances and Discipline and the Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency.
Tisdale is also actively involved in the community. His leadership positions currently include president of the South Carolina Historical Society and membership on the Board of Trustees of the Southern Education Foundation, a public charity that seeks to advance equity and excellence in education throughout the South.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of the South and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
