Thomas Johnson Joins Nexsen Pruet's Real Estate Group

Thomas H. Johnson Jr. has joined Nexsen Pruet as Special Counsel.  He will concentrate his practice in the areas of corporate and commercial real estate law and land use and zoning law.  Johnson has extensive experience in handling real estate and zoning matters in the wireless telecommunications industry.  Along with the Triad Area, he works in Eastern North Carolina, covering Wilmington, Greenville and Raleigh.

Johnson, who has more than two decades of experience in a broad range of real estate matters, was previously with Ward & Smith, P.A., in Wilmington. While there he created and led the Zoning & Land Use Planning Group, which handled all types of complex real estate transactions.

Prior to that, Johnson managed his own practice, Johnson Law Firm, PLLC, which emphasized business, real estate development, and corporate law. He was also a partner with Colombo, Kitchin, Johnson, Dunn & Ball, LLP, in Greenville, N.C., where his practice also included real estate transactions, government, healthcare, and administrative law.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and his law degree from the UNC School of Law.

Johnson is founder and a member of the Zoning, Planning, and Land Use Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.  He is also a member of the Bar’s Real Property Law Section; the International Council of Shopping Centers; and the New Hanover County Bar Association. Additionally, he is a past chair of the N.C. State Bar Fee Arbitration Committee for Judicial District 3A.

Active in the community, Johnson has served on the board of the United Way; as vice president of the Pitt County Chamber of Commerce; and as a member of the Greenville City Council. He is currently a member of the Administrative Board of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
