"Lawsuit contests Richland's tax policy change"

Andrew Shain    The State    April 23, 2010

Nexsen Pruet member (partner) Dennis Lynch speaks to The State newspaper about a lawsuit filed over Richland County's business license fee.

Andrew Shain reported the piece entitled "Lawsuit contests Richland's tax policy change."  The article begins:

"Imagine one year getting a tax bill for $254.90, then, the following year, it increases to $128,865.78.  That's what Columbia's FN Manufacturing plant says happened to its Richland County business license fee in a lawsuit filed this month."

Lynch and other Nexsen Pruet attorneys represent the company.  He told the paper that the fee increase "creates a bad business environment for the county."  He added that FN Manufacturing has not decided what to do if the county does not reduce the fee, but said the company knows about "other counties that are more business friendly with their fee and tax activities."

Dennis J. Lynch practices in the business and commercial litigation group.  He focuses the majority of his practice is on complex civil and antitrust litigation, governmental litigation, as well as trucking industry defense and transportation law.
