John Perkins Joins Nexsen Pruet’s Intellectual Property Group Greenville April 24, 2009
John Perkins has joined Nexsen Pruet’s Intellectual Property Group as Special Counsel. He will work in the firm’s newly opened office space next to Falls Park in downtown Greenville.

Perkins focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on complex litigation. He handles disputes regarding patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and antitrust violations. In addition to his litigation experience, he also handles transactional matters, including the acquisition of patent rights and opinion work relating to patent validity, enforceability and infringement.
Perkins holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University. He was an Engineer and Team Leader at Duke Energy Corporation for ten years. His technical proficiency spans a variety of disciplines in the electrical and mechanical arts, including fiber optics, power systems, semiconductors, software, hardware, and telecommunications.
Perkins earned his law degree from George Mason University School of Law, with honors. After law school, Perkins served as law clerk for The Honorable Pauline Newman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Following the clerkship, he worked in the Complex Litigation and Intellectual Property Groups of an international law firm in Washington, D.C., where he focused on intellectual property and antitrust litigation.
