Tushar Chikhliker Participates in Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative

Columbia    February 9, 2010

This month Tushar Chikhliker began participation in the Spring 2010 class of the Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative.  The class is made up of forty Midlands-area leaders who are selected from four sectors of the community:  corporate, governmental, non-profit and faith-based.

Chikhliker’s law practice is focused primarily in the areas of economic development and public finance.  He represents both private companies and government entities regarding incentive arrangements.

Chikhliker’s commitment to diversity leadership is evident as he is Chair of the Nexsen Pruet’s Diversity Committee.  The committee works to ensure recruiting of minority candidates, reducing minority attrition and supporting minority organizations.   The committee also facilitates the Nexsen Pruet Diversity Scholarship Program.  It awards $3000 to up to ten exceptional first year minority law students who are planning a career in North or South Carolina.

The Diversity Leaders Initiative focuses on diversity leadership, community building, and communication and collaboration skills. It is offered to select senior-level leaders across the state, and over 400 CEOs, mayors, city and county council members, legislators, school superintendents, pastors and rabbis, non-profit heads, chamber of commerce directors, and community leaders have graduated from the program.

Nexsen Pruet, LLC is one of the largest law firms in the Carolinas, with more than 170 attorneys and offices in Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, Hilton Head, and Myrtle Beach, S.C. as well as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh, N.C.  Founded in 1945, Nexsen Pruet provides a broad range of legal services to the business community and represents companies and other entities in local, state, national, and international venues.
