"State simplifies immigration audit process" The Charleston Regional Business Journal October 2, 2009

The Charleston Regional Business Journal features an article entitled “State simplifies immigration audit process” on October 2nd. The article quotes Nexsen Pruet employment and labor law attorney David Dubberly.
Reporter Ashley Fletcher Frampton wrote about how state leaders "made a significant change this week to the employer audits." The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation now allows employers to affirm that they are not "knowingly or intentionally employing people unauthorized to work in the United States."
Dubberly told the newspaper that the change is good for both sides - "this allows the state and the business to say, ‘OK, if you can affirm that you have had systems in place and that you have been checking the new hires even before July 1, we are not going to do the interviews and the inspections. We’re going to concentrate on who you’ve hired since July 1.’” Click here to read the full article.
