Savannah Business Journal Names Melissa Azallion to "40 Under 40" List

HILTON HEAD, SC - Melissa L. Azallion, an attorney in Nexsen Pruet's Hilton Head office, has been selected to the Savannah Business Journal's "40 under 40" list in recognition of her professional and community achievements.

The annual honor is given to individuals under the age of 40 who have exhibited significant leadership qualities in and out of the business world. Nominations come from across the area, and the Journal's editorial board makes the final selections based on qualifications that include the positive impact nominees have had on their organization, profession, and community.

"Melissa has invested a lot of time and effort in serving the Hilton Head/Bluffton and Savannah regions," said Leighton Lord, chairman of the board of Nexsen Pruet. "She brings tremendous value to our office and to the clients we serve. We are delighted to see her recognized by the Savannah Business Journal."

The Journal will spotlight the "40 Under 40" list in its March 13 issue.

Azallion practices in the firm's Employment and Labor and Immigration groups. She represents individuals and corporate clients in multiple industries, including higher education, manufacturing, health care, hospitality, government, and technology. She serves on the board of directors for the Latin American Council of South Carolina, is vice chair of the Lowcountry Workforce Investment Board, and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She also is a member of the Hilton Head chapter of Zonta International, a global service organization that works to advance the status of women worldwide

Azallion is also a frequent speaker for business and community organizations on topics such as sexual harassment, immigration, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII, and wage and hour and workers' compensation issues.
