Edward Bender and Kim Neel Join Nexsen Pruet

Columbia, SC — Edward Bender and Kimberly Neel have joined the Columbia office of Nexsen Pruet, and will work as associates in the healthcare and bankruptcy groups, respectively.

Bender earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina and his law degree from the USC School of Law.  As an undergraduate, he received the prestigious Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, the highest honor awarded to a USC student.

Bender’s background includes work as a legislative liaison with S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. While there, he monitored tourism-related legislation in the General Assembly, and assisted agency officials in developing and overseeing the budget. He also served as an Urban Fellow with the New York City Department of Transportation, where he worked on the city’s traffic policies and served as a constituent service representative.

Neel earned her undergraduate degrees in International Business and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She has also studied abroad in Spain and is proficient in Spanish.

Her background includes work as a victim’s advocate with the Charleston County Solicitor’s Office. While there, she worked to increase involvement of the Hispanic community in the judicial process and to ensure victims’ concerns were effectively voiced in case resolutions.
