"Law Students Get Voice on ABA Board of Governors"

For the first time ever, the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association gets a vote.

As a non-voting student member on the ABA Board of Governors, Nexsen Pruet attorney Tommy Preston petitioned the board to allow representatives a vote in the House of Delegates.  The proposal was passed at ABA Annual Meeting in August in Toronto and Preston spoke to ABA Now.

The ABA has “sent a strong message to students across the country that they are valued,” said Preston, who was the last non-voting student member of the board while studying at the USC School of Law.  He added that the association is "looking out for our best interests, and that the ssociation recognizes the contributions that students can make to improve the profession.”  Read more.
