"Incentives aren’t the only thing"

GSA Business reports on Leighton Lord's presentation about Boeing at InnoVenture Southeast 2010. Lord is a candidate for South Carolina Attorney General and former chairman of the board at Nexsen Pruet.

Francis B. Allgood wrote the article entitled "Incentives aren’t the only thing."

Lord spoke to hundreds of people gathered at the conference in Greenville on May 11th.  He talked about the economic development deal that is bringing Boeing to South Carolina.

He told the group that although incentives were a factor, Boeing also considered that South Carolina is a right to work state as well as its tax structure, laws and workforce.  Lord said that the Palmetto state's "tax structure is the highest.  All South Carolina did was give the manufacturer parity to Washington’s 4% property tax.”

Leighton Lord led Nexsen Pruet's team on the Boeing project.  He stepped down as board chairman in early 2010 to focus on his campaign for South Carolina Attorney General.
