"Nexsen Pruet's economic development prowess well-known"

Columbia Regional Business Report    April 7, 2010

The April 5th, 2010 edition of the Columbia Regional Business Report features an article entitled "Nexsen Pruet's economic development prowess well-known."

The article begins:

"When Boeing came to South Carolina to make a development deal, the company hired Nexsen Pruet.  That's the kind of major project that can build the reputation of a firm's economic development practice; but Nexsen Pruet already was among the small group of firms that companies turn to when they consider new investments in South Carolina."

The article profiles the firm's economic development practice which is lead in South Carolina by April Lucas and Burnie Maybank.  Maybank twice served as Director of the state Revenue Department and wrote many of South Carolina incentive laws.

He told the paper that because the state has the nation's highest industrial tax rate, "there's always a negotiation" for incentives or other arraignments such as fee-in-lieu-of-taxes.
