Beyond the Fine Print
Global companies doing business in the United States face an array of complex contract-related issues that can affect growth, operations, and profitability. Knowing those issues – and understanding their implications – not only can help to improve performance but can also help to avoid costly litigation.
Nexsen Pruet Adams Kleemeier, in conjunction with the Charlotte Regional Partnership, is offering a free seminar designed to review, clarify, and explain some of the contract challenges that confront these companies. The panel discussion will be moderated by Professor Tim Davis of the Wake Forest University School of Law, and include the counsels of several prominent multinational companies that operate successfully in the United States.
The seminar will cover:
- Negotiating commercial terms and the Uniform Commercial Code
- How multinational companies blend contracts for services and goods
- How commercial agreements can be made under U.S. law even if no signed contract exists
- The legal steps necessary to protect companies from liability under U.S. law
- Consequences of failing to take the necessary steps to protect a company from commercial liability in the United States
- How commercial issues can extend beyond the United States
- The U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods
Who should attend?
Anyone who advises national and international companies on contractual matters including in-house counsel, business owners/principals, CFOs and contract managers.
