Trudy Ennis - In Memoriam

Trudy A. Ennis, a partner of Nexsen Pruet, passed away on February 9, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ms. Ennis, who practiced law in Greensboro for more than 20 years, was a highly regarded member of the Guilford County, North Carolina and American Bar Associations and was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

She was listed in Best Lawyers in America ® for Family Law and as a North Carolina Super Lawyer® for Family Law and Labor and Employment Law.

Ms. Ennis earned her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, and Masters in Education from Western Carolina University.  She taught English before going to law school and receiving her J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law.  At Chapel Hill, she was a member of the North Carolina Law Review and of the Order of the Coif. 

She began her legal career in Greensboro with Adams Kleemeier Hagan Hannah and Fouts.  Nexsen Pruet merged with Adams Kleemeier in 2004.

In addition to being recognized for professional excellence by her peers, Ms. Ennis was a certified mediator and was a past president of the Guilford County Mental Health Association.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Dean Ennis; daughter: Stephanie Fields and husband Kevin of Essex, England; mother: Ruth May Allen of Stanley, NC; two brothers: James W. Allen and wife Susan of Belmont, NC, Eric M. Allen and wife Wanda of Mt. Holly, NC; two sisters: Judy Stamey and husband Wayne of Gastonia, NC, Diane McGee and husband Rick of Mt. Holly, NC.

Ms. Ennis was an exceptional attorney, a loving mother, as well a wonderful friend and colleague. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with her.
