"Employers reconcile over immigration status audits" South Carolina Lawyers Weekly October 5, 2009

South Carolina Lawyers Weekly interviewed Nexsen Pruet employment and labor law attorney David Dubberly after employers and the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation reach an agreement about immigration audits. The October 5th article is entitled "Employers reconcile over immigration status audit."
Dubberly told senior staff writer Fred Horlbeck that the state Chamber and several law firms worked with LLR on reaching a compromise. Some business leaders believed audits designed to ensure compliance with a recently enacted provision of the S.C. Illegal Immigration Reform Act went too far.
"The bottom line here is we were able to work everything out, and that's the way that we wanted to do it. There were some clients that wanted to go to court, but our advice to them was to work it out," said Dubberly.
David Dubberly is the chair of Nexsen Pruet's Employment and Labor Law Group. He also co-chairs the firm's International Law Group. |
