The law firm of Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLP will host a free seminar on Economic Development Incentives in South Carolina at the Capital City Club in Columbia, Friday, June 11, 1999 from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. The seminar will feature presentations from the former Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue, Burnet R. Maybank III of Nexsen Pruet, including a State Tax Economic Development Overview and a State Tax Incentives Update. Deana West, Revenue Law Advisor with the South Carolina Department of Revenue, will speak on Calculations of "New Jobs" for Job Tax Credit and Job Development Credit Purposes. Meredith Cleland, Tax Manager at the South Carolina Department of Revenue, will note the Mechanics of Fee-in-Lieu, followed by a presentation on Financing Techniques Available with Fee-in-Lieu by two Nexsen Pruet attorneys, April C. Lucas and Alan M. Lipsitz. The South Carolina Department of Commerce's General Counsel, Karen Blair Manning, will give an Enterprise Zone Act Update. And Dennis Gabriel, Director of Global Business Finance at the South Carolina Department of Commerce will give a Department of Commerce Update, after which Post Closing Issues and Questions will be discussed by Ms. Lucas and Mr. Maybank of Nexsen Pruet. The seminar will conclude with a Legislative Update by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce's Vice President of Governmental Relations, Thomas DeLoach.
