CAROLINA ATTORNEY APPOINTED TO INTERNATIONAL TRADEMARK ASSOCIATION'S ANTI-COUNTERFEITING AND ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE

Carolina intellectual property attorney, Dr. Horacio A. Farach of the Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLP law firm, has been appointed to the Anti-Counterfeiting & Enforcement Committee of the International Trademark Association. Noting the global importance of intellectual property such as patents, trademarks, and copyrights, the committee's purpose is to facilitate anti-counterfeiting and enforcement of trademarks through international cooperation. The enforcement of trademark laws and rights is subject to the judicial system and laws in every country around the world. The committee is currently building a database on all of the different trademark laws and rights in each of the different countries around the globe. Dr. Farach's multi-disciplinary experience and international background contributed to his appointment to the committee.

Dr. Farach received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina. He then received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Medical College of Virginia. After post-doctoral fellowships at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Farach attended South Texas College of Law and received his Law Degree in 1989. Dr. Farach practiced in Houston, Texas, the District of Columbia and Los Angeles, California, before joining the firm. Dr. Farach is a registered patent attorney. His practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property with particular emphasis on litigation matters, as well as biotechnological and chemical patent matters. Dr. Farach is currently only licensed in California and speaks fluent Spanish.
