Attorney Named to Leadership Charleston Class of 2009

NEXSEN PRUET ATTORNEY SELECTED FOR “LEADERSHIP CHARLESTON”

CHARLESTON, SCAngelica (“Lica”) Colwell, an attorney in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, has been selected for the Leadership Charleston class of 2009.

Colwell focuses her practice on patent and trademark prosecution and intellectual property litigation.  She also practices in civil litigation.

Colwell earned her undergraduate degree and her Master of Science in Microbiology from Miami University.  She earned her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1998.  Prior to law school, she performed medical research at The Medical College of Ohio in the areas of immunology and molecular biology.

Colwell came to Nexsen Pruet from a law firm in Toledo where she gained extensive experience in the defense of medical malpractice claims brought against physicians, hospitals and other health care practitioners and facilities.

Colwell severs on the Charleston County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Council and volunteers for the Charleston County Volunteer Guardian ad Litem Program. She is married and the mother of a 9-year-old girl.

Leadership Charleston is a prestigious program offered by Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. It provides participants the opportunity to explore and analyze various issues that impact the low country.
