Nexsen Pruet Adds Office in Hilton Head

Columbia, SC - One of South Carolina's largest law firms, Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLP, will expand to six offices starting July 1st as they include the addition of the Hughes Law Firm of Hilton Head Island, SC into the Firm. The new office of Nexsen Pruet Jacobs Pollard & Robinson will be led by Edward M. Hughes, Esq. practicing primarily in the areas of land use law, real estate development, interstate land sales, condominium, secured transactions and commercial lending.

Nexsen Pruet is a large general practice firm founded in 1945. Today it has over 110 attorneys with additional offices in Columbia, Greenville, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina. The firm provides a broad range of legal services to the business community and represents companies in local, state, national, and international venues. They also have a Web site at www.NPJP.com.

Neil Robinson, the Partner In-charge of the Charleston office of Nexsen Pruet Jacobs Pollard & Robinson, stated, "we are quite excited to have a permanent presence in Beaufort County, and particularly on Hilton Head Island. Mr. Hughes shared these sentiments as he welcomed the alliance. "Becoming part of the Nexsen Pruet firm will greatly enhance our ability to serve our clients and the Hilton Head area as a whole. In addition, having the Hughes Law Firm join Nexsen Pruet will substantially augment it's real estate and resort development practice area and increase the firm's exposure in the low country," Mr. Hughes said.

Mr. Hughes was born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1971. He earned his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1974 and has practiced law on Hilton Head Island since that time.

Mr. Hughes has been involved in the acquisition and development of several planned unit developments in the Beaufort County area. These include Indigo Run, Hilton Head Plantation, Port Royal Plantation, Wexford Plantation and Shipyard Plantation. He has also been involved in the acquisition and development of two planned unit developments in Colorado-Aspen Glen and Coryell Ranch and the acquisition of Park Meadows Golf Club in Park City, Utah.
