Morgenstern Joins Nexsen Pruet In Charleston; Has Broad Patent Experience In Biotech, Pharmaceuticals

CHARLESTON, SC - Arthur Morgenstern, who has more than 25 years of experience in patent law and most recently served as senior patent counsel to a North Carolina pharmaceutical company, has joined Nexsen Pruet's Charleston office in an Of Counsel capacity.

Morgenstern, a registered patent attorney, will be part of the firm's biotechnology/ pharmaceutical practice.

Before joining Nexsen Pruet, Morgenstern served as senior patent counsel for aaiPharma Inc., a Wilmington, N.C.-based pharmaceutical firm. In that capacity, he drafted pharmaceutical patent applications and provided patent training and planning.

Prior to that, he was Of Counsel with Weingarten, Schurgin, Gagnebin & Lebovici in Boston, where his responsibilities included drafting and prosecuting patent applications in chemistry, biotechnology, and mechanical arts.

He has also served as a patent attorney with Ciba Corning/Chiron/Bayer Diagnostics, drafting and prosecuting patent applications primarily in biotechnology and chemistry. Additionally, he was an attorney with Sigma Chemical Co., working on a broad scope of patent/trademark and regulatory matters.

Morgenstern earned his undergraduate degree from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.; his Master of Science in biophysical chemistry from Yale; and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law. Mr. Morgenstern is admitted to practice in MA, MO, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
