ALA SC Helps Prevent Child Abuse October 1, 1999
Columbia, SC - The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), the professional society for law firm and corporate and government legal department managers, will launch ALA's Community Challenge Weekend, a worldwide volunteer community effort, on October 1-3, 1999. ALA chapters from around the world have set aside this weekend to help improve their communities. ALA's South Carolina chapter will be dedicating this weekend to helping Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina, a statewide network of organizations and individuals committed to preventing and ending the abuse and neglect of children in our state through education, intervention and treatment.
The South Carolina ALA chapter is collecting supplies, toys, and money for Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina and is asking for community support in their efforts on behalf of the abused and neglected children of our state. Donations and supplies may be sent to Carol Cummings at Rogers Townsend & Thomas, PC, 1441 Main St., Suite 1400, Columbia, South Carolina 29201.
Carol Cummings, immediate past President of the South Carolina ALA chapter and coordinator of the drive, calls this year's effort a "Challenge for Children", as the South Carolina chapter focuses their efforts on helping less fortunate children of our state.
The presentation of all proceeds collected for Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina will be made to their Director of Resource Development, Judy Flack at 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 7, 1999 on the 9th floor of the First Union Building in Columbia on the corner of Hampton and Main streets. (The press is encouraged to attend.) All proceeds will be distributed statewide to assist the abused and neglected children of South Carolina.
