Law Firm Selected as "Leading Business Firm" in South Carolina May 29, 2003
Columbia, S.C. -- Legal publishers Chambers & Partners listed Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLC, as South Carolina's No. 1 business law firm, and the Chambers' legal directory highlighted three of its attorneys as "leading individuals" in their specialties.
Chambers & Partners listed Nexsen Pruet as the state's top firm for corporate and mergers and acquisitions law, real estate law, and litigation. Chambers also cited Wilburn Brewer, Mark Knight, and Ed Menzie , for their excellence in litigation, corporate law, and real estate law, respectively.
Chambers' legal directory - the "guide to the best practitioners in all the main areas of business law" - makes its selections based on thousands of interviews with clients and attorneys.
"Obviously, this is a great honor for the firm and for the individual attorneys who were recognized," said Al Pollard, Managing Partner of Nexsen Pruet. "To be named the top business firm in a state where so many firms are business-focused says a lot about the capabilities and commitment of our team. And to have three attorneys honored as leaders in their field shows clearly we have the depth and skills to provide quality service to our clients."
In citing Wilburn Brewer, Chambers noted those interviewed said he was "really the best litigator in the state - strong across the board and analytically sound." Brewer has been practicing law for 38 years in the firm's Columbia, S.C. office. He is currently on temporary medical leave.
Mark Knight, who also practices in the Columbia office, has "excellent negotiation skills," according to those interviewed by Chambers. He practices primarily in the securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate, and partnership areas.
Ed Menzie was described in interviews as a "high quality operator." Chambers recognized Menzie for Real Estate law and Corporate law. He practices in Columbia, and combines extensive corporate, finance, real estate and securities experience in the representation of a variety of clients, including major real estate developers.
In addition to these honors, Nexsen Pruet was also listed among the top firms in South Carolina for employment and labor law.
