Nexsen Pruet is pleased to announce the expansion of its Health Care practice in Raleigh with moves by attorneys Frank Kirschbaum and Joe Kahn. Kirschbaum is a new addition to Nexsen Pruet’s roster, while Kahn recently relocated to North Carolina’s Capital City from the firm’s Greensboro office.

Matthew Roberts, chair of Nexsen Pruet’s Health Care Practice Group, said the moves, which are part of the firm’s regional growth strategy, will further reinforce the group’s wide-ranging capabilities for clients across the Carolinas.

“Frank has established a significant presence in the Raleigh area and across the state, and has built a terrific reputation based on skill, performance, and his relationship with health care providers,” Roberts explained.  “Because health care regulation is growing at such a rapid pace, we needed to expand our existing health care practice into Raleigh.  We are proud of the growth of our existing health care practice under Joe Kahn and we believe that the combination of Frank and Joe in Raleigh will enhance our ability to serve health care providers in the state and region.”

Frank Kirschbaum handles a wide range of regulatory and transactional issues for clients such as private medical practices, hospitals, and other types of health care entities.  His practice includes certificate-of-need litigation and administrative licensing of both medical professionals and health care facilities.  Additionally, he counsels clients in drafting and/or analyzing compliance documents, Medicare and Stark regulations, and numerous other types of healthcare documents and agreements.

Joe Kahn assists hospitals and physician practices throughout the state with their strategic and operational needs and objectives.  His health care practice focuses on regulatory compliance matters, including Stark and other fraud and abuse issues, as well as transactional and corporate matters. Kahn has significant experience advising and counseling health care clients with respect to their contractual arrangements, strategic development plans, and their transactional matters, including mergers, sales and acquisitions.

When needed, Kirschbaum and Kahn will call on other Nexsen Pruet lawyers including veteran litigators Robin Vinson and Dan Boyce.  Vinson is managing member of the firm’s Raleigh office and over the past 30 years, has represented clients across a number of industries, including health care.  Boyce has an outstanding reputation as a trial lawyer and criminal defense attorney with experience in regulatory investigations of health care providers.
