"Tim Scott's freedom fries"

The Washington Times    August 6, 2010

The Washington Times calls on Nexsen Pruet's Burnie Maybank for insight into how Tim Scott became the "odds-on favorite to be the next congressman from Charleston, S.C."

The August 6th article is entitled "Tim Scott's freedom fries."  It details how the  GOP Congressional hopeful went from being a high school student unable to afford sandwiches, to a successful businessman and now a GOP Congressional frontrunner.

Maybank's family has deep roots in Charleston.  He told the paper that Scott "believes in limited government and lower taxes, and he never went native against those beliefs. He's low-key and very sincere, and he just tends to win people over because he is conscientious and hardworking. He has stuck to his guns during his entire service."  Read more here.

Scott faces Democratic nominee Ben Frasier in the November general election.

Burnie Maybank is a member of Nexsen Pruet's economic development and financial services groups.  He was Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue from 1995 to 1999 and 2003 to 2005.
