"Money has dried up for civil appointments -- and no relief in sight"

Fred Horlbeck    South Carolina Lawyers Weekly    July 26, 2010

Nexsen Pruet's Brad Waring tells Lawyers Weekly that the South Carolina Bar is determined to restore funding for civil appointments.

The article in the July 26th edition is entitled "Money has dried up for civil appointments -- and no relief in sight."  Fred Horlbeck wrote about how "Palmetto State lawyers have virtually no hope of receiving much compensation if any for representing indigent clients any time soon."

"Nobody sympathizes more with the plight of those of us that take these cases than the Bar leadership," said Waring, who is head of the South Carolina Bar's Rule 608 task force.  "This is a particularly bad year, but I can assure you that we're not going to give up the fight."

Brad Waring's law practice is concentrated primarily on civil litigation in state and federal courts, with an emphasis on complex commercial litigation. He is past president of the South Carolina Bar and currently serves the Kingdom of Denmark as Honorary Consul for North and South Carolina.
