Newspapers endorse Leighton Lord

Columbia, Myrtle Beach    June 2, 2010

Columbia's The State and Myrtle Beach's The Sun News have endorsed Nexsen Pruet attorney Leighton Lord in the race for the Republican nomination for attorney general.

The endorsement in The State is entitled "Lord best choice for attorney general."  A portion of it reads:

"He brings devotion to the rule of law and a depth of understanding of the competing legal, financial and policy interests at play when the attorney general is called on to decide when to file lawsuits on behalf of the state and when to fight suits brought against the state."

The State.

The endorsement in The Sun News is entitled "The Long View: For attorney general, Leighton Lord has most to offer."  A portion of it reads:

"Lord's experience representing businesses in economic development should give him a deep understanding of the intersection between government and private business, which will be key as the state seeks to foster the creation of more jobs moving forward."

Leighton Lord led Nexsen Pruet's team on the Boeing project.  He stepped down as board chairman in early 2010 to focus on his campaign for South Carolina Attorney General.
