"Lawyer count at South Carolina's biggest firms falls again"

March 29, 2010

Nexsen Pruet Board Chairman John Sowards tells South Carolina Lawyers Weekly that hiring is "focused on need" in an article entitled "Lawyer count at South Carolina's biggest firms falls again."

The March 29th, 2010 edition includes results of its annual survey of the South Carolina's 20 largest firms.  The survey found that the firms had 35 fewer attorneys at the beginning of 2010 compared to 2009.

At the beginning of 2010, Nexsen Pruet had 121 attorneys practicing in South Carolina compared to 116 at the beginning of 2009.   The firm is ranked 4th in number of attorneys in the Palmetto state.

Soward's told Lawyers Weekly that although the economy remains sluggish, there are areas of legal work that are going strong.  "Our creditor's rights folks have more work than they can possibly do," said Sowards.

Nexsen Pruet, LLC has more than 170 attorneys practicing in Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, Hilton Head, and Myrtle Beach, S.C. as well as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh, N.C.
